Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training
teaches people how to understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

MHFA training will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, and develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone while keeping yourself safe. You’ll also learn about professional and self-help support that someone might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms. What’s more, you’ll gain an understanding of how to support positive wellbeing and tackle stigma in the world around you.
The depth and breadth of learning depends on which course you choose to attend. We recommend the Adult Mental Health First Aid course if you are able to afford the time, not only because it is the most comprehensive, but because the learning experience is often more enriched by the shared contributions and camaraderie that can develop during this training. However, the Adult Mental Health Champion course is excellent for people wanting to develop and improve their confidence in approaching and supporting colleagues in their workplace. The Higher Education Mental Health Champion course has been designed and developed specifically for Universities and Higher Education Colleges, focusing on the mental health of young adults, but not forgetting the wellbeing of colleagues working in an academic environment. The Adult Mental Health Aware course offers an introduction to mental health and mental illness and is ideal for companies and organisations that want to increase mental health awareness within their workplaces but may be limited by time or budget constraints. People who have already completed an Adult Mental Health First Aid or Adult Mental Health Champion course can update their skills by attending an Adult Mental Health Refresher course.
